We build/donate Fisher Houses at military/VA medical centers where military/veterans families stay free while a loved one is in the hospital; provide airline tickets; assist military families in need; award scholarships to military children/spouses.
"Finding out your young child has severe aplastic anemia and would require a bone marrow transplant is shattering," Air Force Senior Airman Tim Johnson and his wife Sharla confided. "Staying in the Fisher House at Lackland Air Base, TX, we were able to share our feelings with other families experiencing similar dilemmas in their lives. They understand our fears and help answer our questions. Having these newfound friends gives you hope."
At Fisher House, we believe a family's love is good medicine and are proud to support our military and veterans' families in times of need.
Fisher Houses are a network of more than 90 comfort homes, providing a "home-away-from-home" for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers around the country and overseas. There is no cost to families for staying at a Fisher House.
For more than 30 years, Fisher House Foundation has supported military, veterans, and their families saving more than $500 million in hotel and transportation costs. On any given night, up to 1,200 families can stay at a Fisher House.
The Foundation operates the Hero Miles Program, using donated frequent flyer miles, and the Hotels for Heroes Program, using donated hotel points, when a Fisher House is not available. The Foundation manages a grant program that supports other military charities and scholarship funds for military children, spouses, and children of fallen and disabled veterans.
Fisher House Foundation is recognized as a premier non-profit with a four-star Charity Navigator rating for 16 years straight and an A+ from the Charity Watch.
Fisher House Foundation, Inc. is a CFC participant.
